Ikkaku

A single long horn rises from Ikkaku's scalp, the visible product of his Quirk. His hair falls forward in combed-down spikes that keep his right eye hidden nearly all the time. He dresses in layers, wearing a short-sleeved top over a darker garment with full-length sleeves, and pairs it with dark shorts. Two small pouches ride at his waist, and a speckled neckerchief finishes the outfit.

Loud, upbeat, and restless, Ikkaku chases attention through pranks and stunts that regularly earn him a lecture from his teacher. He talks up his own greatness at every opportunity, which lands him in trouble as often as not. Heroes fascinate him and he fully intends to become one, but the version he pictures is pure spectacle, and that fantasy leads him to sneer at plainer powers such as Mashirao Ojiro's tail.

Underneath the bragging sits envy. Surrounded by classmates with flashy abilities, he judges his own horn dull and useless for hero work, and Mashirao correctly reads the showing off as compensation for that insecurity. Watching Mashirao beat a villain with nothing but a tail dismantles the assumption entirely.

Mashirao Ojiro and Toru Hagakure travel to Oku Island on a Team-Up Mission, assigned to lecture the young pupils of a private hero school called Terakoya. A rope strung near the gate catches Mashirao in a net, and the culprit steps forward to announce himself as a hero in the making. His teacher arrives to scold him and apologize to the guests, while Toru cheerfully asks to be taught the trick. Inside, Mashirao explains that heroism runs on discipline and patience, which the children find dull, and Ikkaku brands him plain before laying out his own vision of heroes as marvels with devastating signature moves. Toru wins the room by refracting light through her body, and Ikkaku tells her about the island rumor of treasure buried in old ruins, offering her a place on his future team while refusing to include Mashirao.

After class, his horn picks something up as he balances along a fence. He leaps for a dramatic pose, crashes through the ground, and lands at the entrance to the very ruins from the rumor. When classmates report that he never came home, the two students go looking. Ancient traps fire at Mashirao while Toru slips past them unseen, and Mashirao decides to turn back just as he finds the boy near the entrance, stuck and sulking, insisting nobody asked for rescue. Ikkaku admits that everyone around him has striking Quirks while his horn only senses things. The floor then gives way, revealing a graverobber they had met on the boat over, a man whose Quirk crumbles stone at a touch. Toru blindsides him with Warp Refraction so Mashirao can close in, and the mocked tail user wins on raw strength while Ikkaku watches. Back at school he still boasts about the discovery, yet he now understands that heroism means sharpening whatever talent you were born with.
