Appearance

His hair is dark brown and shorn to a buzz, his eyes are black, and the frame carrying them towers over nearly everyone, thickly built and heavy with muscle. At school he wears what every Shiketsu student wears, a white collared shirt with dark trousers, and the academy's cap stays on his head in uniform or on duty alike.

His costume is a heavy burgundy suit fastened with yellow buttons, worn under a cape whose thick fur collar all but swallows the propulsion rig on his back. Brown padding buries his left arm and ends in an oversized tan glove with air pipes across the knuckles, while his right arm stays bare apart from a tight blue undersuit sleeve. More tubing rings his torso and ankles to vent wind for his Quirk, gas-mask-like plates guard his left shoulder and both knees, and bulky brown shoes and goggles finish it.

All For One shot him through the head with a Rivet Stab during the Final War, yet he came through without lasting damage. Eight years on he has grown taller and broader and dyed his hair silver, while the costume turns sleeker: less mechanical piping, a smaller fur collar, matching gloves on both hands, and round goggles where the cap used to be.

Personality

Everything about Inasa runs at full volume. He is hyperactive and eager to the point of seeming obnoxious, and yet his speech is oddly formal and courteous. He insists there is next to nothing he dislikes, having taken joy in the whole world as a child, insects included, and he makes a habit of walking up to strangers in search of friendship. Beneath the bluster he is gentle and guileless, letting small insults slide off while deeper wounds stick.

Passion is the whole of his creed: a hero, to his mind, must burn with something that drives them toward other people, and he relishes any battle fought at that pitch. Heroes without that fire earn his contempt, and anyone he judges to be full of hatred he refuses to call a hero at all. That standard turned him against Endeavor and Shoto Todoroki, both of whom met his warm greetings with cold stares. The grudge curdled until he wore the same hard expression he despised whenever Shoto crossed his path at the licensing exam. Their refusal to cooperate cost them both a license.

The failure forced him to see what he had turned into. He apologized afterward, honestly, even while confessing that the dislike had not vanished. By the Remedial Exam it was gone: toward Shoto once the two of them won over the children of Masegaki Primary School together, and toward Endeavor once the new No. 1 swore to become someone better.

Abilities

Inasa scored first among applicants to U.A.'s recommendation exam, which places his raw ability above Shoto Todoroki's, and even after withdrawing that application he stood among the most powerful students Shiketsu had. His command of Whirlwind is exact rather than merely strong. He can drive several separate currents at once, carrying rubble and people through the air without letting them strike one another. Turned outward, the same Quirk hurls opponents away, swats projectiles aside, and grants him enough lift to fly and enough thrust to launch himself off the ground with no help from his gear. That precision let him clear the licensing exam's opening trial alone, a stage usually restricted to second-years, taking 120 rival examinees out of the running as he went. During the Final War he hoisted an entire swarm of Doubles conjured from Himiko Toga, the storm overhead feeding his power. His named techniques are Slicing Gust: Fury and Mountain Haze: Majesty.

The exam's final stage paired him with Shoto against Gang Orca, then the No. 10 Pro Hero. Their feud sabotaged them: heat from Half-Cold Half-Hot ruins the airflow Whirlwind depends on, and the veteran and his sidekicks pinned the pair down. Izuku Midoriya arrived and shamed them into seeing their own stubbornness, and the two, barely able to move, finally fought as a unit. Wind and flame together spun a burning cyclone that nearly took Gang Orca down, and afterward he admitted a longer fight would have ended in his defeat.

What carries Inasa through is an unbreakable will. It bent when Endeavor brushed off his greeting in childhood and again when Shoto did the same at the recommendation exam, the second rebuff pushing him to tear up his U.A. application. Owning the licensing failure is what put him back together.
