Kunieda

A hood of ragged cloth, cinched at the crown by a metal ring, buries Kunieda's hair completely, and a triangle-patterned poncho hangs over it with tassels swinging off the edges and draping across his forehead. His build runs long and narrow: broad at the shoulders, whittled at the waist, with limbs to match. Nothing about his eyes reads as human, since the colors sit inverted, leaving pale irises floating in black.

Hairless brow ridges slope down into a broad, squared nose bridge, and a long dark mask hides his mouth along with the tip of that nose. His shirt is black, the sleeves pushed up to meet leather vambraces at the forearms. Below the waist the outfit borrows oddly from business dress: a suit jacket knotted around his hips, a white dress shirt beneath it, a striped necktie doing a belt's job under the collar, pinstriping on each leg, and plain dress shoes.

Trust and hope and every other thing he cannot see strike Kunieda as worthless noise; he weighs the world by usefulness and by damage, nothing else. He is sharp enough to read an enemy's plan while the fight is still happening, and he pairs that calculation with an apparent absence of conscience, which fits the years he spent murdering people and feeding the remains to his Quirk.

Mockery comes easily. He calls Yuga Aoyama pitiful for chasing acceptance until he ended up All For One's puppet, saddled with a power that misfires without a support gadget, and he needles the young man over his treachery throughout their fight. Being pulled out of Tartarus put him in All For One's debt, and he takes that debt seriously enough to promise death to anyone who turns on his master.

Among the inmates Tartarus was built to contain, Kunieda ranked near the top, and All For One slotted him in with his deadliest assassins. Strategy is part of the threat: he worked out on his own that the Troy cages existed to scatter the heavy hitters across Japan, then dismantled the leftover strike force of roughly thirty heroes in a parking lot without much strain.

Unnamed Plant Growth Quirk: Kunieda raises vines, spores, fungal mats, and enormous purple-black blooms out of the earth and steers them at will. The same growths erupt out of people, feeding on flesh until each victim becomes a carnivorous plant. The stalks also skewer targets outright, as when they punched up through Yuga's forearms and held him aloft. Mass matters: larger bodies yield larger, stronger plants, which is why Fat Gum produced the biggest specimen he had ever grown. Because the roots creep in slowly and eat the host, defensive powers like Fat Absorption offer nothing at all. Once a bloom matures it throws pollen and the spread compounds, and every plant in the chain functions as a limb of Kunieda himself through the root network. Knocking him out does not stop it either; the growth kept propagating after he went down.

He fed that Quirk through murder, treating each body he collected as fertilizer, which is what got him branded a serial killer and buried underground in the first place. Against Yuga and Fat Gum he swallowed the entire construction site in vegetation, dropped all but one of the thirty-two heroes present, and only lost because Yuga pushed past his limits into an onslaught of Navel Lasers, which gave the hidden Toru Hagakure something to absorb. She returned it as Warp Refraction: Navel Laser straight into his back. The two of them then had to dig every trapped hero out of the roots, since the plants outlived his consciousness.
