Appearance

Where a face belongs, Manga carries a speech bubble. It is blank and pale white, running down into his neck, free to change shape at will and to fill with his thoughts spelled out as text. He is very short, and his skin is fair. Because the bubble reshapes itself, he has no fixed height, ranging anywhere from 140 cm to 160 cm.

His hero costume is blue at the shirt and red at the sleeves and legs, buried under armor pieces shaped like ink bottles, black over the torso and white down the legs. Manga panels run along his yellow belt, his gloves stop short of the elbow, and his mask reads as a blank page template, its panel layout redrawing itself to match whatever page he is currently on.

Eight years after the Final War, the ink bottles are gone. He has traded them for plating modeled on a black drawing tablet, worn with dark green trousers, a dark brown utility belt loaded with digital pens, plus yellow gloves whose cuffs are shaped like black ink bottles.

Personality

Manga is loud, theatrical, and delighted to be there, which the Cavalry Battle and the Joint Training Battle against Class 1-A both put on full display. His official profile settles on the phrase ultra positive.

Children bring out the best in him. Making them smile is a genuine soft spot, and his stated dream is to use his Quirk to bring joy to kids everywhere. He has a crush on the third year Bibimi Kenranzaki, and he and Pony end up in long conversations about anime, a passion she matches with his love of manga.

The anime adds one grim detail: injure the speech bubble and he bleeds a black substance, presumably ink.

Abilities

Overall Abilities: Everything Manga does runs through how well he handles Comic. Spawning onomatopoeia lets him attack, defend, and support with equal facility, which makes him hard to plan around. Round two of the Joint Training Battle showcased it: under Itsuka Kendo's direction, he boosted Kinoko Komori's Quirk, cut Momo Yaoyorozu off from her teammates, and stopped Yuga Aoyama's Navel Laser. That performance caught Wash's eye, and an internship with the country's No. 8 hero sharpened his communication on top of everything else.

Comic: Speaking a word makes it appear in midair. The words have to be onomatopoeia, sound words, and whatever phenomenon the sound implies happens for real. The catch is his throat; lean on the Quirk too hard and it leaves him in agony. His ultimate moves are KRASH and WHAMABAM.

Artistic Talent: He draws and sketches at a high level, able to knock out a detailed character's front view quickly. He and Minoru Mineta served as the lead artists on a manga whose subject was the Hero course at U.A.
