Chapter 26 closes out the Obstacle Race and hands Izuku Midoriya a victory he takes without ever tapping One For All. The reward turns out to be a target painted on his back, as Midnight announces a Cavalry Battle where his headband alone is worth ten million points.
The Obstacle Race reaches the Land Mine Field, its last stretch, with Izuku Midoriya out front after blasting himself past the leaders. Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki close on him fast and nearly pull ahead, only for Izuku to slam his metal sheet into the mines and ride the blast clear of both. He crosses the line first, to his own delight and All Might's, with Shoto second and Katsuki third. The rest of the field follows them in.
Midnight declares the top forty-two finishers advanced and everyone else eliminated, then reveals the festival's second event: the Human Cavalry Battle. Those forty-two assemble into squads of two to four and score by seizing headbands off rival teams. Each student's headband carries a value tied to where they placed in the race, which leaves Izuku, the winner, wearing one worth ten million points and gives even the last-place qualifier a path to the top.
Izuku crosses the line ahead of everyone in the Obstacle Race, and does it without One For All.
Only the first forty-two students to finish qualify for the next round.
Midnight announces the Human Cavalry Battle, in which Izuku's first-place finish makes him the single most valuable target on the field.
The chapter concludes the Obstacle Race within the U.A. Sports Festival's first-year stage and runs entirely inside the Sports Festival Stadium at U.A. High School.
Also on display is the Business Course at U.A., and the chapter introduces a large portion of Class 1-B, among them Itsuka Kendo, Neito Monoma, Setsuna Tokage, Juzo Honenuki, Kinoko Komori, Shihai Kuroiro, and Pony Tsunotori.
