Appearance

There is no hair on Shikkui, no nose and no ears. What he has instead is blue skin with the coarse, mineral quality of a shell, split by a mouth that is wide and jagged, with a spike jutting up at each side of his face. Where a neck would be there is a stack of ringed segments in deeper blue. His eyes are blue.

He dresses down for hero work: a puffed black parka worn open at its high collar over a plain white shirt, a thin gold chain at the throat, loose cyan trousers, and heavy dark blue ski boots with fur around the shafts. Eight years on, the grooves beside his eyes have deepened into a wave pattern and his jaw has thickened enough to show teeth. The necklace is the only part of the costume he bothered to change.

Personality

Ketsubutsu treats him as a heartthrob and he plays the part, easy and unbothered among his friends. Underneath that he works as hard as any of them at becoming a hero and puts real faith in what his class can do together. Official material sums his personality up in one word, stiff, and records the incident that probably taught him caution: as a small child he hardened a batch of rice balls a moment before his father bit into them and shattered the man's teeth.

History

Stiffening is a contact power. Anything Shikkui's hands touch turns hard, and it does nothing at all to living things. Forge Shield is his listed ultimate move.

Ketsubutsu's second-year class sat the Provisional Hero License Exam in the wake of All Might's retirement, with Ms. Joke handling introductions to Shota Aizawa and Class 1-A while Yo Shindo did the talking for the students. Shikkui said little. Inside Takoba National Stadium his group set an ambush, armed with everything the Sports Festival broadcast had told them about 1-A's Quirks, and went after them first, since crushing U.A. is a rite of the exam. Shikkui hardened the ball projectiles and passed them to Itejiro Toteki, whose Quirk delivered them with perfect accuracy, but Class 1-A had moved well past the version of themselves on tape and turned the barrage aside, even the shots routed underground. He agreed with Yo that U.A. had improved and still liked their odds. Yo eventually scattered the defense with Tremoring Earth, and with students from other schools flooding in to take their own shot, the class simply waited out the chaos and passed the first phase. The second phase dropped them into a simulated disaster, where they set up a first aid zone and ran rescues efficiently enough to show their experience, and when Gang Orca's makeshift villains crashed the operation they moved the wounded clear.

Shikkui was on the ground for the Final War as well. Skeptic had taken over U.A.'s main system inside the Floating Fortress along with the subterranean evacuation network, intending to bring the campus down out of the sky, when La Brava hijacked all of it back on behalf of the Police Force. Skeptic tried to run with the data and his puppets and found the hideout already surrounded, Shikkui among the heroes and Ketsubutsu students waiting outside on La Brava's tip. He graduates and turns pro after the war.
