Vanguard Action Squad

Rendered 開闢行動隊 and read Kaibyaku Kōdō Tai, the squad came together after the Hero Killer's example pulled criminals who had been hiding in the margins toward the League of Villains. The broker Giran handled much of the recruiting, and Dabi and Himiko Toga were the first two names he brought in.

Tomura Shigaraki assembled the unit specifically to target U.A. High School students, and Dabi ended up its de facto leader. Membership was capped at ten, every one of them chosen for either a formidable Quirk or genuine combat ability. As Dabi put it, dragging along any number of ambitious nobodies only multiplies the risk, and a handful of seasoned elites serves better.

The mission had two objectives. Seizing Katsuki Bakugo was one; the other was tearing down the picture of a safe, hero governed society that U.A. and All Might had spent years selling. The squad disbanded after the operation.

The attack opened on the Pussycats' Beast's Forest, where students were training. Dabi set the woods alight while Mustard flooded them with poison gas, a combination that hid the villains' meeting point and pinned the students inside at the same time.

Assignments were divided cleanly. Muscular, Moonfish, and Mr. Compress swept the forest for Katsuki. Magne and Spinner engaged the Wild, Wild Pussycats to keep them off the students. A Nomu was turned loose purely to spread chaos, Mustard held the toxic cloud in place, and Himiko worked on collecting three separate blood samples. Dabi and Twice, meanwhile, tied up Eraser Head and Vlad King with duplicates of Dabi.

Students accounted for Moonfish, Muscular, and Mustard before the night was out. Mr. Compress still got Katsuki to the rendezvous, and Kurogiri warped away everyone still conscious once the fighting ended.

What separated this squad from the mob thrown at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint was quality. Dabi alone occupied two accomplished Pro Heroes long enough for the plan to finish. The unit badly hurt half the Pussycats along with a long list of students across Class 1-A and Class 1-B, achieved the capture it came for, and escaped having lost only a few of its own.

Dabi ran the operation in practice, holding Eraser Head and Vlad King at bay with copies of himself while the rest of the squad worked. Himiko Toga, recruited alongside him, focused on drawing blood rather than fighting for its own sake.

Mr. Compress delivered the actual objective by taking Katsuki Bakugo to the extraction point. Muscular and Moonfish hunted alongside him and were both beaten by students, as was Mustard, whose Gas Quirk had knocked out much of the camp beforehand.

Magne and Spinner drew the Pussycats, Twice supported Dabi's diversion, and a Nomu was deployed as a blunt instrument. Kurogiri, though not counted among the ten, closed the operation by warping the survivors clear.
