Wild, Wild Pussycats

Written ワイルドワイルドプッシーキャッツ and read Wairudo Wairudo Pusshīkyattsu, the team is usually shortened to the Pussycats. Four Pro Heroes make up the group, which counts among the four hero teams behind the founding of the Union Affairs Office and works out of the Pussycats Agency.

Mountain rescue is their specialty and has been for twelve years, long enough to make them veterans of a field few heroes touch. They own a large wooded mountain outright, which doubles as training ground and workplace.

Every member wears the same costume in her own color: a sleeveless collared top cut at the midriff, trimmed in gold, marked by a trio of red straps, and finished with a bell, worn over a full ruffled skirt with a tail, an orange utility belt, thin armbands, a silver buckle shaped like a blue padded paw, white gloves hiding retractable claws, striped fur lined boots, and a headset styled after cat ears. Eight years past the Final War the design softened into a single dress that covers the midriff, with frilled white sleeves, color coded bands, a plain chest marked only by a small ribbon under the bell, sleeker ear shaped headsets with paw motifs, and glove pads tinted to match each wearer.

Tomoko Shiretoko, Shino Sosaki, Yawara Chatora, and Ryuko Tsuchikawa built the team over a decade back. The idea of forming a hero team came from Tomoko, while Ryuko supplied the feline motif and the naming scheme. Over two years before the main story they took in Kota Izumi, orphaned when a villain killed his parents, one of whom was Shino's sibling.

Their first major public appearance came at the farewell show staged for Captain Celebrity at the Tokyo Sky Egg, where they performed a choreographed routine. When creatures called Bombers attacked the venue on Number 6's orders, the team stayed among the audience keeping people calm while other heroes fought.

U.A. High School then hired the property and the personnel to train its first year hero students in the Beast's Forest, with the Pussycats assisting Shota Aizawa and Sekijiro Kan. Secrecy was absolute given recent villain attacks, yet the League of Villains learned of it anyway. On the third night, during a test of courage pitting Class 1-A against Class 1-B, the Vanguard Action Squad struck to abduct Katsuki Bakugo. Mustard's Gas dropped most of the students, Magne ambushed and knocked out Pixie-Bob, and a Nomu went after Ragdoll, leaving Mandalay and Tiger to hold the line with Aizawa and a handful of students. Several villains were beaten, but Katsuki was taken, and the aftermath revealed that Tomoko had been kidnapped as well.

Two days later Tiger joined the Police Force and a mass of professionals on the rescue operation, going in without his teammates since Pixie-Bob was hospitalized and Mandalay had Kota to look after. Alongside Mt. Lady, Best Jeanist, and Gang Orca, he stormed the warehouse where the League manufactured Nomus and found Ragdoll unresponsive. All For One emerged from the shadows, apologized, and admitted he had taken her Quirk, then swept the heroes aside with an Air Cannon; Best Jeanist's Fiber Master yanked them clear in time to save Tiger's life, though he was badly hurt. Even injured, Tiger later pulled a trapped civilian out to lighten All Might's burden. When Ragdoll woke, her teammates held her while she wept over the Quirk and the career she had lost, and the team went quiet.

Word arrived from Tartarus that All For One cannot hand a stolen Quirk back to the person it came from, closing the door on recovery. The hiatus dropped the Pussycats from thirty second to four hundred eleventh in Hero Billboard Chart JP standings, but staying inside three digits after doing nothing at all convinced them fans still wanted them, so they returned to work and went to see U.A.'s two first year hero classes in person to announce it, with Ragdoll cheerfully backing the team from the office. During the Paranormal Liberation War, Mandalay, Pixie-Bob, and Tiger drew the Jaku Hospital Raid on the evacuation detail while Tomoko stayed behind. Tomura's Wave of Decay erased the building and dozens of heroes with it, and the three fled the spreading destruction; Pixie-Bob's Quirk did nothing to stop it before the decay reached the city. She escaped and later joined the failed effort to keep Tomura, a handful of followers, and several Nomus off the escape route.

Mandalay, real name Shino Sosaki, leads the group. Her Telepath Quirk pushes messages to teammates or anyone in her range, making her the team's communications hub, and she has the speed and strength to trade blows with Spinner even while he swings an enormous makeshift blade. Every hero name here except Tiger's comes from a domestic cat breed.

Pixie-Bob, or Ryuko Tsuchikawa, commands the ground itself through Earth Flow, shaping terrain and raising multiple Earth Beasts at once, which serves equally well for fighting villains and for digging survivors out of a mountainside.

Ragdoll, born Tomoko Shiretoko, once held Search, tracking up to a hundred people simultaneously along with their positions and weak points, an unmatched tool for finding disaster victims. All For One stole it, forcing her retirement, and she chose to stay on as the agency's office assistant.

Tiger, whose real name is Yawara Chatora, uses Pliabody to stretch his limbs, threading tight gaps in rescues and slipping attacks in fights. He is the muscle of the outfit and strong enough to overpower Magne. Kota Izumi, Shino's nephew, lives under the team's care.
