The rematch neither of them could have at ten years old finally happens at full speed. Chapter 119 puts Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo through a brutal exchange at Ground Beta, drags out the resentment each has been hiding from the other, and pushes One For All past a ceiling Izuku thought was fixed.
Full Cowl runs through Izuku's whole body, and he declares he will not serve as anyone's punching bag. Katsuki blasts himself skyward, then drives himself back down with a second explosion, but the speed boost carries Izuku out of the way. Spinning into a wheel of explosions, Katsuki hurtles at him, and Izuku dodges while reading the moment the spin will end and the gap will close. A kick meant to deflect his opponent's hand misses the mark as Katsuki slips behind him and slams his stomach, sending him staggering. Given no space to think, Izuku answers the next rush with a handstand on a railing to get clear. Katsuki grabs his arm and hurls him down, though the throw sends himself into the railing. Izuku registers the uncomfortable truth that Katsuki has sharpened his own prediction faster than he has.
Saying so aloud earns another explosion, which Izuku evades. He counterattacks, and Katsuki answers with Stun Grenade. Shielding his eyes from the flash is not enough, and Katsuki gets ahead of him to land a blast that launches him into the air. As Izuku comes down, Katsuki spits out what he has never said: he loathes the way Izuku rises after every beating, and he reads it as Izuku believing himself the better man. The accusation stuns Izuku, who has spent that whole time envying the way Katsuki excelled at everything, and he tells him he was an inspiration who stood nearer to him than even All Might did.
Full Cowl comes back up and Izuku charges, and Katsuki notices the extra speed. Emotion has loosened Izuku's grip on the power and One For All swells with it. Realizing the cap can move, he pushes his output from five percent to eight. With nowhere to dodge, Katsuki has to guard, and the enhanced kick lands on his defense. Izuku tells him he has finally caught up.
