Chapter 148

Deku goes to look at Eraser Head's wound and is redirected to Rock Lock, who is worse off. Shota blames his own carelessness for assuming there would be no casualties, and cannot believe Tomura Shigaraki's League would take Overhaul's side. Watching Himiko move, Izuku recognizes the rhythm; he saw it during the Provisional Hero License Exam, and the Camie Utsushimi he met there had been Himiko wearing her face.

In a sealed room, Twice opens on Sir Nighteye by sending the Rappa clone forward. Nighteye reads its movements, slips them, and kicks it down, taking only a graze, then throws a Hyper-Density Seal that smashes it into a wall, startling Twice and the police alike. Close-quarters combat and prediction, he explains, are things he is fast at; an alliance between the League and the yakuza was not something he foresaw. As the clone dissolves, Twice curses the yakuza for being useless, and a second Seal rips part of his mask away. He flees, and Mimic drops a wall between them, nearly crushing him in the process.

The torn mask starts Twice splitting apart. Himiko reaches him and bandages the tear, holding him together, and he thanks her while she remarks that the two of them have been doing their best for the yakuza and getting nothing but cruelty for it. Mimic is offended by the display. Himiko has sympathy for a man trying to fix his own mistake, understanding what Magne's death cost him and what taking responsibility means to him, and she blames the Shie Hassaikai for making that effort worthless by being terrible allies. The accusation lands on Mimic.

The flashback returns to the League's hideout after Tomura's meeting, where he announced the alliance and sealed it by lending Himiko and Twice out. Twice thought the plan insane, condemning a partnership with people who murdered Magne and took Mr. Compress's arm, blaming himself for introducing Kai to the League in the first place, and saying that the reason it ate at him was that he remained human. Himiko, asked her view, said she joined to make the world easier to live in and would do anything toward that, then asked why the two of them had to be the ones handling the yakuza. Tomura removed his hand mask and told them it had to be done for his sake and for all of theirs. The Shie Hassaikai wanted their abilities and had killed two birds at once, gaining them while restricting the League's movement. Above all he told Twice that responsibility for his own actions was the point, that this was how to take it, and that he believed in them both.

That faith settles it: they decide to operate however they please. Twice mocks Mimic for abilities so weak the yakuza are nearly extinct, Himiko calls the Shie Hassaikai's boss useless, and the fury sends Mimic thrashing the maze into chaos. Walls between the heroes and the police fall. Unable to stomach another word, Mimic decides to make the heroes' path easy so he can crush all of them himself.

Izuku works out that the Camie from his License Exam had actually been Himiko wearing a stolen face.

Sir Nighteye destroys the Rappa clone with a Hyper-Density Seal and tears Twice's mask, causing him to begin splitting apart until Himiko patches it.

The flashback shows Twice and Himiko initially refusing the alliance and agreeing only after Tomura shows genuine faith in them, and the pair then goad Mimic into wrecking his own control of the basement.

Titled The Anguish of Young Twoga, the chapter appeared on August 7, 2017 in the combined issue 36-37, runs fifteen pages, and opens volume 17. Episode 73 adapts it.

Deku, Eraser Head, Rock Lock, and Himiko in her Camie disguise appear on the cover. Strongarm, Foresight, and Double feature, with the Eraser Goggles and Hyper-Density Seals as items.

The Nighteye Squad's fight with Toga and Twice concludes here inside the ongoing Shie Hassaikai Raid. Horikoshi's comment mentions his assistants planning a night trip to a pool.
