Chapter 153

Mimic is down and restrained, so the heroes and police weigh their options. Sir Nighteye has pinpointed Eri's room and wants the labyrinth reshaped, but Joi Irinaka cannot answer, wrecked by the drug he used to force his Quirk. Eraser Head confirms the maze is no longer his to move and warns that Himiko Toga and Twice are still somewhere nearby. Joi spits curses about their betrayal and swears to kill them on sight, though he has no idea where the rest of the League is, which tells Sir Nighteye that only those two remain in the area. The police brace for their return while the detective refuses to write them off.

Rock Lock cuts the deliberation short: leave the League to the police and go get Eri. The officers agree, and Ken Takagi volunteers to babysit Joi, since the man cannot move anyway, reminding everyone that others are burning themselves out to buy this time. Sir Nighteye, Izuku and Shota move out, Izuku promising to bring Eri back. Alone, Ken reflects that his objections were never contempt for U.A. students. His wife is four years younger, and at the close of last year the child they had long wanted finally arrived. He worried over the students the way he worries over his newborn, because a child is a child. Watching them work changed that, and he now considers them heroes enough to shame the professionals. He intends to hold Izuku to the promise and Sir Nighteye to the responsibility.

With the corridor clear, Himiko and Twice emerge. She still wants Izuku hurt, but she wants Overhaul punished more. Twice murmurs something to her, and she decides Tomura Shigaraki will like it very much, hoping only that both sides come out of the fight exhausted and broken. Reaching the last wall, Izuku smashes through it, spots Chisaki and drives a Full Cowl punch into his arm that sends him tumbling. Shota tells Sir Nighteye to get Eri. The detective takes in what Mirio has accomplished alone against the boss and his closest aides, both bodyguards beaten, Chisaki wounded, the girl recovered, and gathers them up with open pride.

Izuku and Shota press the injured Chisaki, whose Quirk dies under Erasure. Cornered, he screams for Chronostasis to wake up, and Shota shoves Izuku aside as a minute hand lances out and clips his shoulder. Chronostasis explains that anyone the hand touches slows down. Chisaki, relieved, reveals he repaired his lieutenant's head the moment Mirio kicked the man into him. The cut forces Shota to blink, his Quirk lapses, and Chisaki raises spikes that pin the heroes back. Unwilling to lose here, he turns to Shin Nemoto, thanks him for everything, notes that he would die gladly, and disassembles them both. The pieces come back together as one thing: a monstrous shape with bird-like blades sprouting from the shoulders and vast clawed arms. Izuku stares in horror as the fused Chisaki announces that Eri is coming back to him.

Joi Irinaka is restrained, and Sir Nighteye confirms only Himiko Toga and Twice remain in the vicinity.

Rock Lock persuades the others to push on for Eri and volunteers to guard Joi; his family and his real reason for doubting the students are revealed.

Izuku, Shota and Sir Nighteye reach the battle, and Izuku strikes Overhaul with Full Cowl while Sir Nighteye secures Mirio and Eri.

Chronostasis wakes, having been healed by Overhaul, and wounds Shota with his Quirk, which is explained for the first time.

Overhaul fuses himself with Shin Nemoto and takes on a monstrous new form.

Transform! is chapter 153 of My Hero Academia, written and drawn by Kohei Horikoshi. It was published September 18, 2017 in issue 42 of that year, runs 18 pages, and appears in Volume 17 as part of the Shie Hassaikai arc.
