Chapter 239

Spinner barely keeps his grip on Trumpet's truck while Tomura Shigaraki's Decay wipes out everything around Deika City. Trumpet screams at the Liberation Army to pull back while the streets crumble apart. Through all of it, Spinner stays set on helping his leader.

With nothing left holding him back, Tomura cuts loose and enjoys it. One of Twice's Doubles escorts Giran to safety, and Skeptic makes for Re-Destro's position with Geten badly hurt from Gigantomachia's blow. Tomura recalls All For One's words and understands that hatred fused with anger is the key to real freedom.

Re-Destro struggles against the sheer output as his Claustro armor comes apart with no resistance. He reasons that Decay must have a limited range he can counter from outside, then launches his missile arsenal without noticing the Quirk's effect has already run past anything he assumed. Tomura laughs in triumph, wanting only to destroy whatever stands in front of him.

Deika City ends, its buildings ground down to fragments. Re-Destro drops the armor and takes in the ruin visited on the city he loved. He tries to escape and instead plummets to the ground with nothing left to support him. Gigantomachia watches the attack in complete shock.

Re-Destro turns out to have survived by severing his own legs with a piece of the armor, stopping Decay from spreading through the rest of him.

Tomura emerges from the dust still standing despite heavy injuries. He walks over and reminds Re-Destro that this whole battle happened because the man challenged him, which draws a smirk. Trumpet and Spinner reach the scene with what is left of the MLA. Trumpet orders an attack, and the soldiers halt the instant Tomura gives them an icy smile. Trumpet is stunned to watch fear override his own Quirk.

Re-Destro then tells Trumpet to hold the Army back, since more conflict would only add meaningless deaths. He admits his people were following Destro's command rather than his own will, concludes that Tomura's leadership suits the MLA better, surrenders, and puts the Army behind the League of Villains.

Everyone left on the battlefield watches in astonishment. One tear runs down Gigantomachia's face as he understands at last that Tomura genuinely is All For One's successor. Spinner takes it as the League picking itself up from a long dead tale. Satisfied with the outcome, Tomura asks Re-Destro whether he has enough money to buy the League some lunch.

Tomura beats Re-Destro and grinds most of Deika City into nothing.

Re-Destro gives up his legs to survive, then hands the Meta Liberation Army over to Tomura's command.

Gigantomachia accepts Tomura as the true successor to All For One.

Tomura's first request of his new benefactor is money for the League.

The chapter was published on August 19, 2019 in issue 38, spans fifteen pages, and appears in Volume 25 under the Japanese title 後継, read Kōkei. Trumpet and Spinner share the cover, and Episode 112 adapts it.

Deika City is the only setting. Gecko, Decay and Incite are used, with Sevens Loud and Claustro present as items. The Revival Celebration closes out here along with all three of its remaining bouts: Spinner against Trumpet, Gigantomachia against the Meta Liberation Army, and Tomura Shigaraki against Re-Destro.
