Chapter 24 (Team-Up Missions)

Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and All Might turn up at Gran Torino's apartment on assignment, and the old hero stalls from atop his microwave, mangling names and pretending to doze. Once Katsuki's patience gives out he reveals the plan: survival training on an uninhabited island, the same regimen he once inflicted on a teenage Toshinori, who reacts with open dread and admits it left him traumatized.

A rowboat delivers them. Gran Torino strands the students and shoves off promising to return later. All Might, trembling on the sand, nearly bolts until Izuku's delight at having him watch talks him into staying. Katsuki stalks off to build his own shelter, Izuku copies the idea, and his question about how his mentor once handled housing drags up a hut torn apart by a storm. All Might deflects, then relents.

Foraging, Izuku wonders whether some mushrooms are edible. A memory of a violently sick young Toshinori answers it, and All Might knocks them away, warning they once killed him. Something else nags at him, and when Katsuki storms over accusing Izuku of raiding his food, it surfaces: a strange creature had hunted him here. A rustling bush cuts the warning short.

The thing bolts, a small shape cloaked in sticks and leaves, ricocheting off trunks with both boys behind it. They pin it flat and it goes still. Katsuki asks whether it died, and Gran Torino sits up out of the leaves announcing he is alive and only came to make sure nobody perished. All Might notes he nearly did anyway.

Back at the shore, All Might admits he came to guide the boys and got swallowed by his own memories instead. Izuku hoists a fish overhead, Katsuki tells him to clear out of his spot, and the catch slips away. Watching them, All Might resolves to work past the trauma, and Gran Torino says he already knows Toshinori will give it everything.

Yoco Akiyama writes and draws the chapter, twenty-four pages in the fifth volume, published August 4, 2022 in the September 2022 issue of Saikyo Jump. The same four characters take the cover.

The cast never widens beyond that quartet, which lets the installment work as a comedy of mentorship rather than a mission. Chapter 23 precedes it, Chapter 25 follows.
