Summary

Bounding rooftop to rooftop, Izuku takes stock of his grip on One For All. Steady use of Full Cowling has pushed activation below conscious thought until it works as second nature, and the six remaining Quirks now demand the same urgency.

The three keep chasing Endeavor's standing challenge to reach a villain first. Today's target is a hit-and-run driver weaving a motorcycle through the alleys; he tries a detour, Endeavor seals the route with fire, and he goes down. While the sidekicks handle the arrest, Endeavor tells the trainees they are slow, and Katsuki blames winter for slowing his ignition. Shoto asks whether he caught Endeavor's method, and a nettled Katsuki demands to know what he thinks he spotted first. The speed comes from firing flames out of his feet to dash, Shoto says, which Katsuki compares to his own Explosion technique.

Key Events

Endeavor resumes patrol the moment the villain is secured. Help arrives sometimes, he tells them, as Hawks provided against the High-End Nomu, but a hero has to be able to do all of it alone. Excuses like Katsuki's are worthless on the job, he adds, because showing up late means failing to save someone, a point he underlines by pulling people from the path of a truck.

Shoto and Katsuki get identical assignments: pick either releasing maximum output for a single second or concentrating their power, then drill it until it needs no thought. On a break, Endeavor asks Deku whether he can hit max output for a second unconsciously. With Full Cowling, yes; Air Force still requires focus. Set the secondary ability aside, Endeavor says, and work only on Air Force. Asked about parallel processing, he argues everyone does it daily without noticing and grounds it in driving: nobody is born knowing how, but instruction in each separate action eventually fuses them into one unthinking motion. Learn two things at once subconsciously, then add a third.

Notes

U.A. gave them knowledge, Endeavor warns, while the work-study is where those lessons take hold; they can make every mistake they need, because their success or failure will not dent his own work. A week in, Fuyumi calls, and with school starting she invites the whole group over for a big dinner. Shoto works out that the acceleration comes from flames compressed beneath Endeavor's feet, and Izuku's assignment is to use his powers subconsciously.

Chapter 248, by Kohei Horikoshi, runs thirteen pages in volume 26 within the Endeavor Agency arc, published October 28, 2019 in issue 48. Ryukyu, Nejire, Ochaco, and Tsuyu take the cover, and Episodes 103 and 105 split the adaptation.
