Chapter 267

Fumikage remembers his internship, asking Hawks what his weakness was. Fire, the pro answered, since his feathers catch easily. Asked what he does about it, Hawks said only that he wraps the job up before anyone gets the chance to use it on him.

In the present, Fat Gum carries Mudman, Shemage, Chargebolt, and Tsukuyomi inside his body. Mudman and Chargebolt argue they still have more to give and should not be pulled to the rear. Fat Gum explains the pros used the students' wide-range Quirks to subdue and box in a mass of opponents, and now that the enemy will be picked apart gradually, the adults are done borrowing the kids' strength. Tsukuyomi then spots fire erupting from the mansion.

Inside, a furious Dabi has blown Hawks back after Twice's death. Standing on him and burning his feathers away, he hears Hawks ask whether that is the expression a man wears over a dead friend. Dabi answers with an insult and explains his tear glands are burnt through, so crying is not available to him, then admits his grief is real: with Twice alive beside him, his dream could have been made real.

Hawks says he dug into the League of Villains' backgrounds and came up with nothing on either Dabi or Tomura Shigaraki. His mind goes back to the officials who slotted him into a special program to manufacture a special hero, who told him to throw away his name, and to the punishing training he accepted because it might make him into Endeavor, whose toy he was holding at the time. He asks who Dabi is. Dabi answers, and Hawks is stunned.

Dabi tells him that Hawks would have been finished long ago had he not been the one target that mattered, ahead of Twice and ahead of everyone else. Neither the League nor Tomura, he says, was what the undercover hero should have been watching, because one man's philosophy is enough to change the world. He declares that no real heroes exist and calls himself the ultimate manifestation of Stain's will, then bids Hawks goodbye, dismissing his life and death as meaningless, while Gigantomachia waits somewhere for orders.

At Jaku Hospital, Mirko is losing ground against the High-Ends, who are learning her patterns. She turns back toward Kyudai Garaki and the Nomu chase, opening her side and tearing away part of her right ear. She keeps going, telling herself that dying is acceptable so long as she drags enemies down with her, and reaches Garaki and the capsule holding Tomura. Before she can shatter it, a High-End runs its Quirk through her right leg and tells her she was too slow, and she refuses to stop. Back at the mansion, Tsukuyomi arrives in time to blast Dabi away from Hawks, while Endeavor comes down into Garaki's laboratory and strikes a High-End as Mirko keeps swinging.

Dabi burns Hawks' feathers away to beat him, then gives up his own real name, which the reader never sees.

Tsukuyomi gets back to the mansion in time to save Hawks' life.

Mirko disengages from the High-Ends and reaches Garaki and Tomura, losing part of an ear and taking a Quirk through her right leg with the capsule still intact.

Endeavor arrives at the laboratory to back Mirko up.

The chapter continues the Jaku Hospital Raid and the Gunga Mountain Villa Raid, and concludes the Hawks vs. Twice and Dabi fight.

Hawks' internship remark about fire, delivered casually in flashback, is paid off directly by Dabi's attack, and Hawks' memory of the Hero Public Safety Commission program plus the Endeavor toy sets up his own origin.

Fat Gum's Fataxi debuts as a named move here. Horikoshi's author comment recounts a dream in which he was stung from behind by a Ray Stinger while running.
