Deku reaches for Blackwhip and Cellophane's Tape snags it, the boy remarking on how strange it looks even as Deku remembers Hanta coaching him on shaping the tendrils. Earphone Jack's Heartbeat Wall drives him airborne, and she brings up the Cultural Festival, when he took her note-organizing seriously rather than writing it off as a pointless hobby. Tailman lands next with Tornado Tail Dance, telling Deku he has never forgotten how furious the boy became on his behalf during the Sports Festival bout with Hitoshi, and that none of them can ignore how ragged he has become alone. Deku keeps insisting he left to keep All For One from stripping them away from him.

Tsukuyomi hurls him into a building with Dark Shadow. Sugarman catches Earphone Jack and Tailman, who marvel at how far his strength and will have run, then argues that a special power changes nothing about their shared feelings, and threatens to withhold the food coloring meant for Eri's candy apples. Creati clamps a sleep-inducing machine around him, explaining that their Quirk use has been authorized so they can join Endeavor's side and keep him safe. Deku recognizes the device, tears loose, and screams at them to stop wasting themselves on him.

Chargebolt grabs hold next, admitting they share no hobbies but naming him a friend he intends to make listen. Tentacole wraps the pair in Dupli-Arms coated with Creati's insulation tape, echoing Deku's own words from the training camp about everyone together rattling even All Might. Tsukuyomi seals them inside Ragnarok: Womb, reminding him that turning Dark Shadow's offense into defense had been his suggestion. Chargebolt floods the shell with electricity, and Deku still bursts free. He knows the concern is genuine, because Danger Sense has stayed quiet the whole time, and he shouts that he is fine anyway.

Then he slams face-first into Shoto's Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall. Shoto looks down at his ruined expression and asks him to share the weight. From a rooftop, Froppy says fear earns you the right to cry, recalling her own tears when she apologized for opposing the plan to rescue Katsuki, and declares that if he insists on being a comic book superhero, they will not let him do it by himself.

Class 1-A try to pin Deku down and drag him home while he tears loose from every hold, with each classmate recalling a moment when he had helped them or lit a fire under them.

Horikoshi's author comment traces the name Deku to the poem "Ame ni mo makezu", which he cites as the reason rain had been soaking so much of the recent artwork.
