Chapter 355

Endeavor hits the dirt after All For One runs him through. Thoughts of Shoto and Toya surface before he steadies himself, furious at having been baited so easily, aware that every part of this mess traces back to choices he made. Overhead, Hawks reads his feathers and finds Endeavor breathing, the attack having missed the worst of him. That means the job is simply to hold on until he recovers. Hawks calls to Tsukuyomi, who answers that being the safety net was the entire reason he was posted here. Nobody expected Endeavor to be the one who needed it, but Hawks swallows that and asks his hero for help.

All For One has no patience for a long fight, not with his other self exposed elsewhere, and he reads their plan correctly as stalling. So he goes after the softest target in the group, Earphone Jack, sprouting a spray of mouths off his fingertips that come within inches of her before Hawks' feathers shove her out of the line. Hawks answers with feathers and a katana stroke into the mask, telling Tsukuyomi he will cover him. Dark Shadow checks on Kyoka, and Tsukuyomi tells her to put her sound waves into the cracks. She agrees, shaken badly by how close that was, only now grasping what Izuku and Yuga have been living with.

All For One keeps one hand busy with Hawks and uses the other to assemble a Quirk combination cannon, muzzle trained on the students of Class 1-A. Their nerves amuse him. Do they imagine this is another school day, he asks, deluded extras that they are, and then he fires. Hawks throws his feathers at the blast to deflect it and leaves himself wide open. Kyoka's left earphone jack is torn away. Through the pain she tells him that he never stops ranking people by strong and weak and special, and that none of it interests her; the part that counts is the tears he put on her friends' faces. She unloads a Heartbeat Surround: Legato into him. He dismisses her convictions as comfort for the powerless, useless against real power, and moves to strike again, only to be seized from within. In his vestige world the wills of everyone whose Quirk he took are pushing back. Even New Order never fought him like this, and he cannot understand what pushovers found to rally around. Hawks, having struck the same spot three times, spots the fracture. He hurls his katana through Earphone Jack's sound waves, and the resulting Soundwave Vibration-Enhanced Flight Feather Blade shatters the mask, baring part of the face beneath.

The wound Endeavor is trying to shake off came within inches of his vitals. Buying him that recovery window falls to Hawks, Tsukuyomi and Earphone Jack, and All For One belittles the 1-A students for showing up at all before firing a heavy attack into them. Kyoka has the left of her two earphone jacks torn away, and still refuses to back off, fighting on for her friends.

When All For One tries to press the advantage, the vestiges of those he stole Quirks from hold him back. Hawks channels Earphone Jack's vibrations into his katana and strikes the damaged section of the mask with force enough to split it open.

Extras lands at number 355 in Kohei Horikoshi's manga, fifteen pages collected in Volume 36. It ran in issue 27 of 2022, dated June 6, with Endeavor, Shoto and Dabi on the cover.

Part of the Final War arc, its pages were split across two anime episodes: pages 1 to 9 in Episode 147 and pages 9 to 15 in Episode 148. Trivia notes a resemblance between the mouth Quirk attack used here and the Hydra Quirk belonging to Nine. Horikoshi's author comment jokes that his hair had grown long enough to make him look like an endgame villain, despite being probably the weakest person in the city.
