Chapter 369: A Chain of Events, Across the Ages

All For One thinks back many years to the moment he strangled One For All's second holder, tears running down his face even then. That man's Meta Ability worked only on small objects, a peashooter and nothing more, an insect underfoot who spent his final seconds smiling as though satisfied.

In the present, "Tomura" cannot understand how he is able to perceive One For All's vestiges as he slams back into the field. Gearshift matured alongside One For All the way its siblings did, widening to more varied targets and reaching down to the cellular level. Diving back in, Deku stacks that stockpiled power against physical law itself and lets loose Detroit Smash: Quintuple.

Ripping around the arena, Deku draws a note from his opponent that the blow lacked its usual bite without the built-up glow, and "Tomura" resolves to read the timing and predict the next pass. The swing misses: Deku drops into Low Gear at the final instant, and the Second User explains that the Quirk adjusts speed while disregarding inertia. A counter comes, Danger Sense flags it, and Smokescreen blinds the villain. Float carries Deku high, Blackwhip reels his target up, and the energy banked by the Quintuple merges with Fa Jin for another Overdrive burst that unleashes One For All at its fullest.

The Second User's Gearshift is revealed to have been strong enough only to steer the path of small objects in its day, and the end of his fight with All For One is shown, with the villain in tears. Deku brings every Quirk within One For All to bear at once, overwhelming "Tomura" and landing his ultimate attacks.

All For One and One For All begin resonating with one another as a consequence of the battle. Tomura declares he is not finished, his body beginning another transformation with vestige sparks flickering around him. Elsewhere, Spinner presses on with his assault toward Central Hospital.

The Second User argues that the Meta Abilities themselves were never the thing All For One should have dreaded, but rather the reason a person chooses to use what they were given, since true strength lives in intent, which is exactly why people call them Quirks. Deku, thinking of everyone wounded in the fight, promises the villain he will not let him harm anyone else and shatters many of his fingers with the blow.

Yoichi observes his brother inside the falling body and agrees with Lemillion: the way the fight has run its course has unsettled the melding. The Second User reminds Deku of Nana's words and warns him not to ease up. "Tomura" complains that he has not managed a single Quirk of his own, blaming Erasure from Eraser Head, the U.A. Coffin, and every underhanded method the Heroes brought, then screams as nine vestiges appear. All For One insists victory remains within reach. The chapter runs 15 pages in Volume 37 and is adapted in Episode 151.
