Chapter 371

Confronted outside the hospital, Tentacole presses Spinner on a single question: what happens to the patients inside. The mob waits on their leader's word, but his fogged head produces only indifference, which unsettles them. Takaie Kanigumo covers the gap by recasting the shrug as doctrine, insisting spilled blood is simply the toll, and the army reignites.

Told the raid will set his cause back thirty years, Spinner snaps back and begins changing. All For One handed him more than Body Bulk; a second gift, Scalemail, supplies the strength, defense, and silhouette he believes a leader requires. A memory of trading League of Legends talk with Tomura flickers past as plates spread over every inch of him, and he launches upward to slash at Tentacole while barking at the crowd to press on.

Hurled through a building, Tentacole draws a shout from Anima, and Takaie keeps preaching that today's blood buys tomorrow. The chapter turns back to U.A., where Mezo once uncovered his arms, his mouth, and his scars for his classmates. His parents looked ordinary, he explained, but his hometown mustered a "blood cleansing" whenever he touched another person. City born heteromorphs like Fumikage and Koji may believe the hatred is history, he said, while towns like his remain common. Mina recoiled, Minoru apologized for the octopus jokes, and Mezo waved it off, noting his own hero name invites the comparison; the mask exists so strangers do not read vengeance into his scars. One rescue redeems the rest, though: Dupli-Arms pulling a small girl out of floodwater, the lone occasion his body brought him joy. His classmates piled into his arms promising to stack up more memories like it, and he vowed to carry the torch, become the coolest hero alive, and hand that good memory onward to whoever follows.

Present day, the two heteromorphs trade blows and arguments. Tentacole names his own share of hatred, calls the abusers wrong, and asks whether demolition is the only road; all Spinner offers is demolition. Takaie tries to reassert control by dismissing that naivety and is promptly swallowed by a flock of Hitchcock Birds, Anima refusing to let anyone laugh at his classmate as his own body starts to shift. Tentacole expands himself further, and when Spinner calls the result gross, he answers that this is simply who he is.

Asked what becomes of the innocents inside the hospital, a steadily deteriorating Spinner says he does not care, and the Liberation soldier reframes the answer to keep the mob moving.

Spinner's second granted Quirk is revealed as Scalemail, stacked on top of Body Bulk, and he armors himself completely in scales to trade blows with Tentacole head-on.

Mezo's childhood is filled in: a hometown that beat him for any contact with other people, and a river rescue that turned his body into a source of pride and a reason to chase heroism.

Anima pins the Liberation soldier with a bird swarm while the spike on his head visibly grows, and Tentacole pushes his own transformation further.

Horikoshi's serial reaches installment 371 here, running fifteen pages, printed in issue 48 of 2022 and later gathered into Volume 37. It belongs to the Final War arc, and Episode 152 adapts it.

Horikoshi's author comment praises the Jump Manga Award account for its wealth of resources, wishing it had existed while he was still a student.

Spinner's scaled armor has been noted for resembling the 2014 redesign of Godzilla, and for turning the international hero Godzillo into something monstrous.
