Chapter 81 (Vigilantes)

A daydream opens the chapter. Inside her controlled mind, Kazuho pictures a life she and Koichi might have had: fighting crime together, marrying, growing old, raising children. Bee☆Pop pushes the vision out, deciding it no longer exists for her, and announces with a sadistic smile that she will sing her newest single, "Bloom".

Running toward her, Koichi recalls Soga's warning drawn from studying the footage. She does not command every bee at all times, but the moment she sings, the entire swarm shifts into attack mode. The song starts and the insects come. Koichi weaves through precisely aimed explosions and hits back. Watching from a distance, Naomasa notes that the blast pattern has changed into something like a midair chase or a game of tag, and Endeavor answers that none of it matters once his cooldown ends and he settles the whole problem.

At Hopper's Cafe, friends of both are listening. Fellow idols pick apart the lyrics and hear passion, desperation, and a merciless inventory of her own weaknesses and her fleeting place in Koichi's life, laid out for anyone to hear. Miu grasps what the words mean and starts crying, calling the song pathetic and desperate.

Bee☆Pop finishes and rises into the sky, content that she has finally been understood. She thinks a private goodbye to Koichi and promises to shine brighter than ever as the bees ring her, still detonating to hold him off. Her parting monologue is cruel and heavy: every sunset from now on will force him to remember her and his failure to save her. Naomasa, observing from below, works out that she means to blow herself up.

Knocked into a fall by a blast, Koichi pulls out his master's grappling hook, which Soga gave him as insurance against his Quirk failing. He anchors it to a building, slings himself back toward her, adds a double jump, and screams her name as he closes. When she notices him, Kazuho's real mind starts breaking through Queen Bee's control. She reaches for his hand and says his name, and a bullet takes her in the chest.

Down in the street, Number 6 stands with a smoking gun and a smirk. Pop seemed to be forgetting her dream, he says, and luckily her biggest fan is here to make sure she does not.

Kazuho imagines an alternate future in which she kept fighting crime alongside Koichi before marrying him and having children.

Koichi duels Bee☆Pop as her melancholy song drives the swarm and the bees encircle her to detonate.

He reaches her in time, and calling her name lets her break through Queen Bee's spell. Number 6 shoots her in the chest.

The eighty-first chapter of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes sits in the Final Performance arc and runs nineteen pages in volume 10, with Koichi Haimawari on the cover.

Serialization used the title Versus Bee☆Pop before the volume release amended it to Bee My Pop. Hideyuki Furuhashi writes the series and Betten Court illustrates it.
