Chapter 82 (Vigilantes)

Koichi watches in horror as Kazuho drops after the shot, dives after her, and catches her before impact, landing in an alley without much trouble. She is still breathing, which means treatment cannot wait. Unnoticed, Number 6 walks up and greets him.

Taking the man for a hero, Koichi asks to be let through, explaining that his friend was shot in the back and needs medical attention. Number 6 smiles and admits he fired, describing the round as a special syringe carrying a drug that controls the bees, since desperate times demand desperate measures. Koichi's eyes go wide, then the explanation settles him.

While Koichi tries to reach his allies by phone, Number 6 slips on a domino mask and starts monologuing, largely ignored. He claims a little sympathy for Pop, allowing that she does not look like an ordinary villain, and that someone has been working her from the shadows. Koichi finally registers that something is off, especially once he sees the hand transform. Number 6 declares Koichi the villain and himself the hero O'Clock II, who will beat him into a pulp with the fist of justice.

He then asks whether the monologue landed and offers two reasons for it. Every self-respecting hero needs a story behind them, and a story needs an arch nemesis. Koichi says he has no time for this, Number 6 agrees, and clarifies the second reason: he is buying time for the drug to take effect.

Kazuho convulses and the bees pour off her. The dose drives Queen Bee and the whole hive to self-destruct, a tool built to erase every clue about the experiment, host included. Explosions cascade across the area. Carrying Pop, Koichi cannot fight, so he runs, aiming for Soga Kugisaki and the rest.

From a rooftop, Number 6 approves. A flashy getaway suits the story he is building, where he swoops in at the right moment to take Koichi down while Bee☆Pop "tragically" detonates, after which he will swear on her wretched soul that nothing like this will happen again. It is a heartbreaking debut engineered to win instant fans, because people eat that kind of mummery up.

Koichi is getting away, though, so the plan waits. Overclock brings the villain alongside and he winds up an explosive punch, unconcerned since one hit should end it. Koichi senses him coming, the force field beneath his feet changes shape, and his super move Extra Oomph carries him clear of the blast. Dusting himself off and regenerating the arm the explosion cost him, Number 6 calls the sudden speed boost cheating and decides Koichi must be punished. He resumes the chase, weighing how best to kill, and finds Endeavor standing in the way with Hellflame lit, announcing that the cooldown is over.

The Crawler and Number 6 meet face to face for the first time.

Number 6 takes the alias O'Clock II, echoing Knuckleduster's old Pro Hero title, and intends to use the incident as his hero debut.

The Crawler demonstrates a new Ultimate Move, Extra Oomph, and Endeavor finishes his cooldown ready to resume the fight.

The eighty-second chapter of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes belongs to the Final Performance arc and runs nineteen pages in volume 11, with The Crawler on the cover.
