Appearance

Girth defines Daore. He stands shorter than his father Kūi yet matches him in sheer bulk, as wide as the older man is tall, which makes him enormously heavy. In the novel version he goes about bare-chested.

Personality

Daore lives for competitive eating and throws himself into the contests, though his appetite for glory outstrips his stomach. When the sheer volume of food finally overwhelms him he buckles, and his father is quick to brand him weak. He shares Kūi's prickly pride, bristling whenever rivals fail to recognise the pair.

History

During the Parent and Child Day festivities Daore and Kūi enter Konohagakure's yearly eating tournament, a round restricted that year to parents competing with their children. He powers through the plates from Ramen Ichiraku, Lightning Burger and Yakiniku Q to reach the final stage, only to faint before touching Ankorodō's dumplings. Kūi mocks him and eats alone, then vomits, and both are disqualified. The anime reworks the outcome so the Dōtonbori conspire with Ankorodō's owner, who rigs the burgers and dumpling bowls in their favour until Boruto Uzumaki swaps the tampered dishes back and Shikamaru Nara scolds the cheats.

Later, during the Time Slip events, father and son visit a Konoha flea market hunting for new clothes and, to their irritation, find exactly what they want at a stall run by their despised rivals Chōji and Chōchō Akimichi. Stung that the Akimichi do not even recognise them, they grudgingly buy anyway.
