Garaga

Character

Garaga is a colossal red serpent of the Ryuchi Cave, so violent that even fellow snakes keep their distance. Betrayed and half-blinded by a past summoner, he scorns all trust until Boruto Uzumaki's stubborn loyalty wins him over and briefly makes him the boy's personal summon.

Appearance

Garaga is enormous, a crimson snake ringed at intervals with bands of black and crowned by a partial hood reminiscent of a cobra's. His brow juts forward, and only his left eye remains; the right is a scarred ruin. Beneath his jaw glints a reverse scale, a jewel-like growth said to surface only on the most savage of serpents.

Personality

Rage sits close to the surface with Garaga, who erupts into violence on little provocation and openly despises humans and anything that blocks his path. The treachery of his old summoner soured him on trust entirely; in his mind, people cultivate goodwill only to exploit it later. He guards his pride fiercely and bristles at being underestimated. Watching Boruto chase after his friends against every discouragement, though, chips away at that cynicism, and the snake edges back toward believing in others, even as he keeps up a gruff front and never stops calling the boy weak.

History

As a young snake, Garaga bound himself by contract to a shinobi who, mid-battle, wanted to flee while Garaga wished to fight on. The summoner repaid this defiance with a Lightning Release strike that blinded his right eye, and the wound left him so ferocious that other serpents shunned him and the White Snake Sage branded him a menace. His power matches his temper: he can hold off a swarm of Konoha ninja and even Aoda at once, crush foes in his coils, and spit a venom that turns victims to stone soon after contact. He blends into his surroundings to strike unseen and tracks prey by body heat through total darkness. When the White Snake Sage sent a group of Konoha genin, Boruto, Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, and Chocho, to claim his reverse scale, Garaga attacked and clashed with Aoda, then withdrew to his hunting grounds after petrifying Chocho. There, Inojin's heatless ink drawings let the genin distract him long enough for Boruto to reach the scale and touch Garaga's mind, glimpsing the betrayal that had scarred him. Rather than take the scale, Boruto struck a bargain: Garaga would sign a contract and help find Mitsuki, and if Mitsuki proved false, the snake could devour him. Intrigued, Garaga agreed. He mocked and tested Boruto's resolve throughout the search, refusing aid until the boy's determination won him over, and together they destroyed a giant Akuta. Once Mitsuki was recovered and the wager settled, Garaga ended the contract, parting ways in Boruto's subconscious while still grumbling that the child was a nuisance.
