Gasuka

Of medium build, Gasuka keeps his brown hair long over dark eyes. His outfit is a grey kimono belted at the waist, a lilac shirt, and trousers; bandages circle his ankles, and he goes without any footwear. In his younger days his hair sits shorter and the grey kimono is trimmed in white.

As a boy Gasuka carries a timid streak, uneasy about the peril of chasing the boar, but he refuses to desert his companions and tags along all the same. Grown up, he shows genuine concern for Asura, going out of his way to tell Taizo when Asura leaves the village.

When a wild boar starts raiding the villagers' gardens and spoiling their crops, Taizo gathers his friends and proposes hunting it down. Gasuka warns that the task is dangerous, but once Taizo promises that Asura's ninshu will shield them, he agrees. The chase turns grim when the boar runs down Asura and kills Shiro, his protector; Gasuka and the rest scramble up a tree while Indra arrives to rescue his brother. Many years on, as grown men, Gasuka and Edashi visit Taizo in his hillside hut and bring word that Hagoromo has dispatched Asura to another village on a mission. After Asura is later named Hagoromo's heir, Gasuka helps hold off a resentful Indra and then joins the celebration. Like nearly all who hail from the Land of Ancestors, he follows Ninshu, gaining the power to wield chakra and, when needed, pass it along to someone else.
