The Giant Marlin is a colossal fish that once served as a summon in the Third Shinobi World War. Stranded by a Fuma shuriken lodged in its skull, it turned to terrorizing shipping lanes off the Land of Fire until a Konoha crew helped bring it down.
In broad outline the marlin resembles the ordinary fish, only swollen to titanic size, dwarfing a rowing boat many times over. A blue-grey sheen covers its body and fins, and bright red eyes sit above a snout shaped and honed like a double-edged blade. For years a Fuma shuriken jutted from its forehead as well.
The sword-like point capping its snout is a genuine weapon, sharp enough to wound Might Guy at their first meeting and roughly as dense as the timber Yamato raises with his Wood Release: Great Forest Technique. Speed is its other edge: it moves at tremendous pace and can hold that pace for long stretches, forcing Guy to open five of the Eight Gates just to row fast enough to stay on its tail.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
Once the Third Shinobi World War ended, the marlin never went home, kept behind by the shuriken buried in its head, and it lingered at the Land of Fire's harbor preying on boats in open water. A fisherman named Yusuke and his father tried to land it, an attempt that cost the father his life. Later, when Naruto Uzumaki, Aoba Yamashiro, Might Guy and Yamato set out for the Land of Lightning, the beast smashed their ship and they crossed paths with Yusuke, still bent on catching it alone. With a proper boat and rod conjured by Yamato's Wood Release, the group joined the hunt, wore the fish out, and let Yusuke finally reel it in to avenge his father. Naruto then pried the Fuma shuriken loose, and the marlin at last returned to its birthplace.
