Personality

Raised amid his family's fortune, Hikaru began as a selfish and coddled child who buried himself in handheld video games and paid little attention to those around him. He leaned heavily on others whenever peril arose, breaking into tears rather than acting, as he did when his father was seized. Meeting Naruto set him on a different course. A string of harsh events, including his grandfather's death and Michiru's capture, forced him to grow, and he eventually found real courage in the face of danger. Though not a trained fighter, he cultivated sharp marksmanship with a bow, at first firing harmless suction-cup toy arrows before receiving proper sharpened ones during the raid on Shabadaba.

History

After Amayo divorced Michiru over his obsession with money, custody of Hikaru fell to the king because of the terms Amayo had signed in their marriage contract. When Hikaru's grandfather Kakeru resolved to confront the corrupt minister Shabadaba, he sent the boy and his father abroad under the pretext of a tour through neighbouring nations. The pair treated their escorts so poorly that they resigned, prompting the hiring of Team 7 in their place. Naruto clashed early on with Hikaru's rude, snobbish behaviour, especially his indifference toward the circus animals during a storm. Stung by Naruto's rebukes, Hikaru tried to rescue the creature Chamu, which won him Naruto's respect and friendship. Following his grandfather's passing, he promised that once he ruled, the Land of the Moon would stand beside Konohagakure. Later, when Shabadaba's men abducted Michiru and strung him up, Hikaru was handed special arrows and made to sever the rope, then helped push his father toward Ishidate, whom Naruto finished with the Crescent Moon Rasengan.
