Iggy

Short green hair falls along Iggy's face like sideburns, framing a pointed chin and a pair of brown eyes. Day to day he sports a long-sleeved blue getup with front and rear flaps and gold trim, white gloves, sandals, a cap, and baggy trousers cinched off by bandages, the whole ensemble lending him a bellhop's air. For a fight he holds onto those trousers but pulls on a mesh shirt fitted with elbow guards, layers a jacket above it, and adds black gloves; a sword rides on his back, a blank forehead protector circles his head, and a shuriken holster hangs at his side.

Iggy reads as spiteful, self-centred, and now and then plain cruel, ready to round on his own friend the instant Konoha shinobi seize the boy. Behind the swagger about being a splendid ninja lies a coward who anguishes over whether to go after his dearest companion once he is captured.

In his childhood Iggy grew close to Banna, a boy mocked for how he looked. Later, in the Land of Water, Naruto, together with Guy, Aoba, and Yamato, bested Banna as he masqueraded as a crook going by the name Naruto Uzumaki. Iggy then posed as a lawful shinobi officer set to take Banna into custody, but with the Konoha ninja gone the act unravelled: the two were partners all along. Rounding on Banna for being caught, Iggy let slip that he had meant to earn glory by toppling Naruto, now a celebrated Konoha hero, with war on the horizon. When mercenaries grabbed Iggy thinking he was the true Naruto, Banna surrendered to spare him. Guilt-stricken, Iggy came clean to the Konoha ninja, and after Naruto spoke to him of what friendship means, he went to free Banna, the two rescued in the end by the arriving Konoha shinobi. He then chose to head home, earn an honest living, and abandon his shinobi dream for good. In combat he showed enough kenjutsu to fight with a blade and a talent for ambush, hunting down foes with explosive-tagged kunai.
