Ishikawa

In his later years Ishikawa keeps one eye open more often than both, squinting out from a face weathered by decades of leadership. Grey hair, a bristling moustache, and a long beard all run with alternating dark streaks. His formal dress pairs the Tsuchikage hat and cloak with a long, loose robe cinched by a pale sash. Earlier, at the inaugural gathering of the five village leaders, he instead wore a dark kimono edged in lighter cloth, his long hair falling freely past his cheeks.

Calm and seasoned, Ishikawa carries the assurance of a man who has seen a great deal. He claims he can gauge the worth of a rock or the strength of a person's resolve with a single glance. A devoted lover of wordplay, he laces his speech with stone metaphors, a habit on full display in the counsel he offers his grandson. That same fondness for puns is exactly why Onoki grows to loathe them.

Ishikawa raises the hidden village of Iwagakure inside the Land of Earth and leads it as the founding Tsuchikage; the anime additionally counts him among the Kamizuru Clan, whose secret bug-taming scrolls he is said to have hidden away from even his own kin. He attends the first summit of the five village heads alongside Mu, arriving in support of the meeting yet refusing to sign any accord lightly. He erupts when the First Kazekage demands a cut of Konoha's payment in place of a tailed beast, and watches intently as Hashirama Senju pleads for unity for the sake of future generations.

During his rule he has his grandson Onoki scrub the village's Stone Monument under his direct watch, using the chore to teach that the stone embodies the immovable will of Iwagakure's shinobi. He warns the boy that abandoning such resolve leaves only excuses and bitterness. Long after his death his line yields two more Earth Shadows, Onoki as the Third and Kurotsuchi as the Fourth. Once Kaguya Otsutsuki is sealed away, Hagoromo Otsutsuki calls Ishikawa and the other departed Kage back from the Pure Land to help retrieve Naruto's squad, the freed bijuu, and Madara from the enemy's dimension, after which his spirit returns to rest.
