During the closing stage of the Chūnin Exams, Kanpō tended to Neji Hyūga after his bout with Naruto Uzumaki wrapped up. Hiashi Hyūga's arrival caught him by surprise, and at Hiashi's request he stepped out of the room so the two relatives could speak alone.
