Kyohō Fuefuki

Standing at an unusual height with a broad, heavily built frame, Kyoho shares the jagged teeth common to his fellow swordsmen. A white hood cloaks his head, cut with slots for his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, worn to hide the scarring left by a childhood Funato clan raid. He dresses in a red, pinstriped shirt without sleeves, cinched by a dark red cord, with wrist wraps and leggings to match and loose grey shorts below. His forehead protector hangs from a cord at his throat like a pendant. Once Shizuma proclaims his uprising, Kyoho adds a sleeveless black jinbaori war coat, edged in tan and hemmed in grey, draped over his gear in the old warrior fashion.

Kyoho's childhood was shattered when the Funato clan sacked and torched his village, leaving wounds on both his body and his mind. The trauma turned him into a guarded, flat-spoken man who seldom offers more than clipped sentences and keeps his scars hidden. The sight of blood is unbearable to him, tipping him into a berserk fury that lashes out at allies and enemies without distinction; even after he comes back to himself he stays visibly rattled and needs long stretches of rest. He shares his comrades' contempt for the tranquil age ushered in by the Sixth Mizukage, feeling that welcoming tourists betrays their warrior lineage, and he throws in with Shizuma Hoshigaki to bring back the Bloody Mist and topple Chojuro.

For all his violence, Kyoho carries a streak of honour, refusing to cut down an innocent bystander without good reason. His stint behind bars leaves him remorseful, and he chooses not to break out alongside Shizuma. Around strangers he turns bashful, unsure how to hold a conversation, but once his temper or timidity settles he proves warm, quick to forgive, ready to apologize for his own faults, and fiercely devoted to his teammates, shielding them with his own body. Those he lets close enough eventually get to see the scars he works so hard to conceal.

Kyoho's raw power is immense, enough to crush a pair of shadow clones bare-handed and to force his way through an Earth-Style Wall, while his skill with Kabutowari lets a single swing shudder through an entire Funato sea fortress and hold its own against Tenma Funato. When Shizuma courts Kagura Karatachi, Kyoho comes along and briefly stalls Boruto Uzumaki by dispelling three of his shadow clones. After Kagura agrees to join in exchange for sparing Boruto, the group raids the vault of the legendary blades, and Kyoho takes Kabutowari for himself. Their first move against the establishment is a bid to shatter the Kirigakure Memorial Stone, but Boruto, Sarada, and Chojuro step in. The Sixth Mizukage anticipates the rebels' patterns and takes them apart; Kyoho concedes with an apology and is detained, and the swordsmen aside from Kagura are shipped to prison to be reformed.

Years later, with the Funato clan on the rampage after freeing their leader Araumi, Kagura recruits Kyoho, Buntan Kurosuki, and Hebiichigo, returning their blades under cursed seals. Still nursing his grudge against Team 7, Kyoho joins the effort to knock out a fortress ship's chakra cannon. When Hebiichigo is wounded and he glimpses her blood, he flies into a rage against Tenma that also endangers his own allies, until Kagura subdues him. After Boruto downs the fortress, a bloodstained Kabutowari frames Kyoho for a murder aboard the escape vessel; Kawaki stages his death to draw out the true killer, a Funato agent lurking inside a refugee's body, and Kyoho shields Hebiichigo from the resulting blast before finally admitting that his mask hides his scars. Learning their sentences were barely shortened, the swordsmen agree to defend Kirigakure against a planned sneak attack in return for full pardons.

Kagura leads them to his childhood village, strips away their cursed seals, and prepares its defenses, a task in which Kyoho fells trees and grows bashful at the villagers' praise. The fighting turns grim as Funamushi's water techniques ravage the area; Kagura is taken hostage and run through, and though the group avenges him, he dies entrusting Kyoho with protecting Hebiichigo and Buntan. In a later assault Kyoho is pierced through the shoulder, and Hebiichigo is fatally struck before Funamushi is at last brought down, leaving Kyoho weeping over her grave. Once Kirigakure's relief arrives and Kagura's petition wins them full pardons, the group is nearly torn apart by the hunger for revenge, but Metal's plea for unity holds them together long enough to reach the front and witness Boruto's sacrifice end the war. In the quiet afterward, Kyoho visits the graves of Kagura and Hebiichigo and resolves to remain as the guardian of Kagura's home village.
