Marui

Little is set down about Marui's character, though his devotion to his squadmates comes through clearly. Faced with Omoi's silence all but guaranteeing his death, Marui put a comrade's survival ahead of the mission's secret.

A skilled swordsman, Marui could blend his Lightning Release: Shadow Clone Technique together with his blade-work.

When word spread that the First Hokage's cell had been spirited out of Konohagakure, the Fifth Raikage dispatched Kakui, Omoi, and Marui as a three-man team to retrieve it. On arrival they discovered that Sakuya, the sample's former keeper, lay dead and that Konoha ninja had supposedly taken it. Omoi's group ran the ninja down, yet instead of fighting they recognised Konohamaru Sarutobi, listened to him, and teamed up after realising the real wrongdoers came out of the Land of Haze.

En route the enemy Deepa, likewise chasing the Hashirama Cell, cut them off. Omoi's team engaged him so the Konoha ninja could push forward, but every blow they landed did nothing against his body. Kakui and Marui dropped first, leaving Omoi to be overwhelmed and interrogated. Once the two came round, they gave up that the sample had already been sent onward toward the Land of Haze, and Deepa responded by ramming his hand clean through both their chests.
