Nishi (sensor)

Nishi stands at about average height, drawn with a rounded face in the manga though the anime gives him sharper cheekbones. He has grey eyes, ashy hair combed into place, and a small beard and moustache. His clothes are the regular Konoha shinobi issue: blue trousers, a turtleneck, a green flak vest, and sandals.

Dedicated to his duties and full of respect for the Hokage, Nishi takes on assignments without a word of complaint. That very intensity is a liability, since fixing all his attention on the job leaves him open to plain but clever tricks. He carries a firm confidence in what his senses can detect.

As a skilled sensor, Nishi is trusted to watch over and monitor Boruto and Kawaki, and he can stretch his detection range wider when a situation demands it. When the Seventh Hokage vanished amid a strange, unfamiliar chakra, Shikamaru Nara sent Nishi and a squad to secure and search the Uzumaki home, since Kawaki had been alone with Naruto. There Nishi turned up a vase Kawaki had repaired, which Boruto snatched away to blunt Shikamaru's suspicions. He was later posted to keep eyes on Kawaki inside the village, but the boy fooled him by leaving a shadow clone in place while slipping out with his chakra masked, a ruse only exposed by Boruto's insistence, after which Naruto had Nishi widen his sensing and hunt for both boys.

Three years on, Nishi joined a squad under Konohamaru Sarutobi to run down two intruders, Jura and Hidari, who had breached the village. He kept watch over the clash as Boruto teleported in to save Sarada, and when Boruto later asked him to lock onto the Claw Marks he flatly refused to aid a traitor, though he did warn the group when he felt chakra stirring within the marks. He was relieved to find Himawari unharmed once the fighting ended, and afterward helped detain Boruto for questioning. During the Mamushi Arc he looked in on Konohamaru, who had just been grilled by the Fire Daimyō's adviser Kobu, and passed along Konohamaru's request to return to the interrogation room.
