White Zetsu

Joined together, the two Zetsu are unmistakable for the Venus flytrap-like husk that folds up from their flanks to sheathe the head and torso, opening and closing at will. White Zetsu's own half shows cropped green hair and a lone yellow eye, with genuinely human features and oddly rounded teeth, while Black Zetsu blankets his right side, having taken over what was once his right leg. Beneath the Akatsuki cloak the body wears blue trousers, sandals, and bandaged legs, and the green ring reading sign of the boar rides Black Zetsu's little finger. When the halves part, their plant shells split with them and any garments tear away; each can even sprout a crude replacement leg for the missing side.

Nicknamed Chatterbox, White Zetsu is the breezy, teasing counterpart to his grim other half, a trait his cloned siblings share, and the anime renders his chatter in a higher pitch. Despite occasional disagreements, the two halves operate as one being. He proved remarkably loyal and obedient, trusted with the secrets of the Eye of the Moon Plan, which he sincerely believed would benefit humanity. His long partnership with Obito began with helping recruit Nagato, and he held a soft spot for his fellow members, once mourning the many who had fallen.

His origin lies in the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Bound to the God Tree over years, then stored inside the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, he was drawn out by Black Zetsu and mistaken by Madara for one of many artificial humans grown from the statue's chakra and Hashirama's DNA. Set to gathering intelligence, he and a spiral-patterned Zetsu were entrusted with watching over the recovering Obito, and the pair grew close to the young Uchiha.

Obito judged White Zetsu no front-line combatant, so he leaned on support powers instead of open battle. He could cleave his body in two for independent action, the halves trailing underground roots to talk across distances, and he spawned near-identical clones capable of draining chakra. His Spore Technique scattered undetectable seeds onto targets, even eluding sensor and Kage-level shinobi, that bloomed into a chakra-sapping mass and could just as easily top up an ally's reserves.

He boasted the finest transformation of any ninja, reshaping his body and chakra to become a flawless double of anyone, whether decoy or assassin, and holding the disguise until he willingly dropped it. Because he was tethered to the tree grown from Hashirama's cells, his chakra matched the First Hokage's, granting him a weaker form of Wood Release along with all five natures and Yin and Yang Release. His signature Mayfly let him melt into the earth to travel unseen, ideal for spying, while Hashirama's cells let him heal almost any injury and graft his tissue onto wounded allies. On the war's second day, Sasuke tested his new eyes on White Zetsu, running him through with Amaterasu's black flames and burning him away.
