Boruto squares off against the shape-stealing Shojoji, who has stalked him through several disguises. When the bandit's wind jutsu turns Boruto's own attacks back on him and the mysterious seal on Boruto's palm flares to life, the fight opens the first cracks in a secret that leads straight to an organization called Kara.
Shojoji wonders why Boruto has lingered after the escort job and sics his men on him, but Boruto sweeps them aside. The bandit then boasts of their earlier meetings while wearing the faces of Tsukiyo and Kokuri, and a furious Boruto attacks with electrified shuriken and the Rasengan, only for Shojoji to turn each one back with Wind Release. Shadow clones from every angle fail too, though Boruto slips a real strike past by dressing his openers as decoys. As Ikkyu scrapes together the ransom, his spending draws Sai and his team to the hotel.
Working out a plan with Tento, Boruto tries a smoke bomb, but Shojoji clears the haze and seizes the real boy, aware Boruto can hold only four clones at once. Suddenly unable to mold chakra, Boruto is saved when Tento lands a surprise shuriken, opening a gap for an unreflected Rasengan. Shojoji moves to devour Boruto and steal his jutsu, and the seal on Boruto's hand flares painfully.
The mark seems familiar to Shojoji, who briefly fears Boruto belongs to a certain group before realizing the boy knows nothing about it. As he strikes again, Mitsuki binds him and Sarada knocks him cold. The two spot the seal, and Boruto explains that Sasuke told him to keep it hidden. Ikkyu arrives to a safe Tento, and Sai turns up having caught the gang's spies. Konohamaru praises the win but reminds the team they abandoned an accepted mission, and he confirms that Kokuri has vanished after leaving Konoha.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
Team 7 sees Tento and Ikkyu off at the station, and Boruto hands back the card Tento gave him, wanting to earn it himself. During interrogation Shojoji stays silent until Sasuke's reputation loosens his tongue. He knows no specifics about Boruto's palm, but names an organization, Kara, that takes interest in such marks, and stresses that they differ from Orochimaru's cursed seals. The episode adapts chapters 14 and 15.
