Summary

Tsunade keeps turning the pages of Jiraiya's book. Within its story, Shikamaru warns his squad away from the sinkhole while Teams Kakashi and Guy reach the village and pick up on the disturbance, and Team Kurenai spots the same pit from outside the walls. The Ame Orphans, cast as Team Jiraiya, search for two missing children, and Nagato frets over his Rinnegan. Shikamaru lays out his reasoning for linking up with the other teams first. Team Jiraiya locates a tunnel underground, and Konan recovers a teddy bear left behind by the children before they descend into it.

Naruto and Neji rouse in an unfamiliar place before a masked man whose Byakugan Neji recognizes, and the stranger condemns them for placing rules above the children while inviting Neji to uncover what Konoha hides in that village.
