Summary

Swept over a waterfall aboard their wrecked boat, Naruto, Gantetsu, and Todoroki wash into a forest and scramble ashore. From Gantetsu, Naruto learns that this tangled woodland serves as the Ninja Dropout hideout and that only a dropout like Gantetsu can trace a safe path through it. The group is soon set upon by one of the dropout members, who attacks using a huge claw-like contraption, and they manage to put him down. While that unfolds, Sakura and Lee come across a group of orphans sheltering among the trees. The episode also exposes Todoroki's hidden agenda: he means to kill Gantetsu in revenge for his slain family, and he is prepared to cut down Naruto too in order to silence any witness to the deed.
