The Eighth Truth

Reeling at the discovery that everything so far has been genjutsu, Boruto finds his legs weak from disuse as Yatsume and Rokuro also stir awake. He confirms that Kiseru was investigating Oga rather than serving him, and reasons from the odd quality of his pain that they remain trapped in an illusion. The trio use a map and access card taken from an Oga henchman to hunt for a way out, but a dizzy Yatsume clashes with a suspicious Rokuro over the map, and they realize they are circling the same ground. A wall drops between Boruto and the others, and when he fails to break it with a Rasengan he loops back around. Yatsume attacks with Lightning Release while Rokuro turns his arms to blades and sends a parasite after her.

Boruto finds Yatsume beaten and learns Rokuro fled with the map. As a parasite creeps over Yatsume and forces her to slash him, she begs him to finish her, but the way his stabbed hand hurts tells Boruto they are still inside genjutsu and everyone can yet be saved. The infection recedes, Yatsume's manner shifts, and she transforms into a cloaked, long-haired figure, revealing herself as Oga, the eighth Inner of Kara made by Amado. She admits killing Batta to deflect suspicion and explains that her scenarios were built to expose people's true desires, a curiosity that traces back to Jigen. Amado had augmented her brain to aid his research on the human heart, but Jigen destroyed a vital part of her, leaving her without any will to live and her body wasting away. She hoped that watching others fight to survive would restore her own desire.

Rather than just stabbing her free of the illusion and leaving her behind, Boruto refuses to abandon Oga and vows to help her find a reason to live. As the illusory world crumbles, he drags her toward a gate and uses Boruto Stream to carry her through, telling her to chase a dream instead of a desire. When the ground gives way beneath her, he forms a clone chain, and her reaching back is enough to wake her in reality. Elsewhere, Boruto's voice reaches the investigators through a communication device, sparing them from withdrawing, and Sarada scolds him with relief. In the aftermath the freed victims resume their lives, and Oga leaves Boruto a letter saying she has found a dream and will visit him one day, which he playfully refuses to show Shamo.

Boruto deduces that the entire ordeal has been a genjutsu that can still be broken. Yatsume is revealed to be Oga, Kara's eighth Inner created by Amado, who admits killing Batta. Oga explains that Jigen destroyed part of her and left her without the will to live. Boruto refuses to leave her behind and vows to give her a reason to live, using Boruto Stream and a clone chain to save her. Oga wakes in reality, the victims are freed, and she later sends Boruto a letter saying she has found a dream.

The episode belongs to the Labyrinth Game Arc of the Boruto anime. Its emotional core is Boruto's insistence on living for dreams rather than desires, the very distinction that reaches Oga where nothing else could.
