The Message

The episode opens with Iruka recalling the night a young Naruto swiped the Scroll of Seals. In the present, Konohamaru hopes to capture a fresh video greeting, unimpressed by the flat delivery of the first attempt, yet Iruka still cannot settle on what to say. Between scolding a trio of students for defacing the Third Hokage's monument once more and dodging questions about whether he will speak at the reception, the instructor keeps circling the same problem, insisting that duty belongs to Kakashi instead.

Ayame remarks that he has become a stranger at Ramen Ichiraku lately, and Iruka admits his unfinished message is the reason. When Naruto drops by to drag his old teacher out for a bowl, the visit turns into something deeper. Naruto asks Iruka to stand at the wedding in a father's place, a request that leaves the man deeply moved and quick to agree. With his heart finally clear, Iruka nails the recording on his next try. As guests gather and mingle, Hinata gazes skyward remembering Neji while Naruto studies Minato's likeness carved into the Hokage Rock. Hiashi is swept up in emotion over his daughter, and the couple, hand in hand, prepare to marry.

Naruto chooses Iruka to represent his family at the ceremony, and that moment unlocks the message the teacher had struggled to write. After repeated failures, Iruka records his greeting successfully alongside Konohamaru. The reception assembles the guests, and Naruto and Hinata step forward to begin the marriage.

The closing eyecatcher shows Naruto passing his forehead protector down to his son Boruto. The image marks the end of the Shippuden series and the era of Naruto's generation, while pointing ahead to Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and the story that follows.
