The Parent Teacher Conference!

During his family's conference, Shino tells Hinata that Boruto excels despite drifting through some of his coursework, though the boy worries them by shrugging off any clear career path and insisting he will sort it out before graduating. Shino later voices those doubts to Anko. Among friends, Boruto compares conferences and reviews how the graduation exams, proctors, and past results work, yet none of it gives him a reason to commit. A reporter calling himself Sukea then approaches, saying he is putting together a piece on the graduating students.

Boruto guides Sukea from classmate to classmate for interviews, and when asked why he entered the Academy, he admits it was to outdo his father. That night Hinata explains that becoming a kunoichi was simply what a Hyūga was expected to do, and she surprises him with how severe his grandfather Hiashi once was. She promises that she and Naruto will back him either way, though Boruto doubts his often-absent father truly would. The next day Namida nearly abandons the shinobi path over family strain, until Boruto pushes a hesitant Sarada to step in, reminding her that avoiding such matters means never surpassing Naruto as Hokage. Sarada then coaxes Namida into admitting she does want the life after all.

Orochimaru meets with Naruto to hand over his read of Danzō's data, useful to Sasuke's ongoing inquiry, though Shikamaru keeps his guard up around him. Walking home, Mitsuki tells Boruto he intends to stay a Konoha shinobi because of the way Boruto changed those around him, from Denki to Iwabee to Sumire. That settles it for Boruto, who decides to graduate first and figure out the rest later. Sukea is finally revealed to be Kakashi in disguise, who tells Iruka that even in calm times, students with poor attitudes cannot be passed, and that his exam will not be gentle.
