Two Great Sage Toads

This title covers Fukasaku and Shima, two toads of Mount Myōboku whose standing places them directly below the Great Toad Sage himself. The pair are husband and wife, and they habitually address one another as Ma and Pa. As elders of the toad clan, both are masters of its sage traditions and hold a place of deep respect on the mountain.

Their signature contribution appears when a summoner wishes to enter Sage Mode: the couple can be called up and merged onto the summoner's shoulders, gathering natural energy on that person's behalf while the fight rages on. Their combat range is broad, covering the wind, fire, and water transformations, and they thread natural energy into their techniques to strengthen them further. They also command advanced sound-driven genjutsu that use sonic waves to bewilder, freeze, or immobilise an enemy. Their first appearance on the battlefield placed them at Jiraiya's side against the Six Paths of Pain, and they later stood with Naruto when Pain assaulted Konoha.

Fukasaku, the husband, is the Pa of the duo, while Shima, his wife, answers to Ma. The two of them are the whole of the group, elders ranked immediately under the Great Toad Sage of Mount Myōboku. Together they served Jiraiya during his final campaign and afterward turned their sage arts toward supporting Naruto in his defence of the Leaf.
