A New Three-Way Deadlock

Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura call forth their summons, Aoda, Gamakichi, and Katsuyu, and Naruto is thrown to find that Gamabunta failed to appear. Gamakichi explains that his father had other business, which sets Naruto marveling at how much the toad has grown. He then orders Gamakichi against the genuine Ten-Tails, Sasuke sends Aoda charging ahead while intending to face the original himself, and Sakura instructs Katsuyu to break into pieces and heal the wounded across the Shinobi Alliance.

Watching the trio in action, Minato hails them as the heirs to the old three-way summoning balance, a sight that moves Hiruzen to remember his own students and sense the dawn of a new age. Gamakichi leaps high and cleaves apart the guardians' attacks with his tantō, while Sasuke, mounted on Aoda, carves through the beast's cloned minions. Naruto then flings a Wind Release: Ultra-Big Ball Rasenshuriken toward the Ten-Tails, and Sasuke replies through his Susanoo, firing a Blaze Release arrow to meet it. Recalling his old lesson to Yamato that wind alone can strengthen fire, Naruto watches the two techniques merge into a swirling mass of black flame that crashes down on the beast.

As the Rookie Nine cheer them on and a tearful Sakura looks on solemnly, Sai quietly presses Jūgo about Sasuke's true intentions. Far from the battle, Orochimaru, Suigetsu, and Karin reach their destination, where the Sannin remarks on Tsunade's dire condition.
