Summary

Naruto mulls over a recent lunch with Iruka, who is proud of how far the boy has come but warns him that real assignments now lie ahead. With Konoha short on personnel after the botched invasion, its ninja are being dispatched on harder tasks far more frequently, and Naruto is itching to pull his weight. Over their own meal, Team 10 has a lighter moment: Ino suggests Choji ought to slim down, Shikamaru comes to his friend's defence, and Choji boasts that becoming a chunin has left him plainly ahead of Sasuke and Neji. Shikamaru shrugs it off, saying he only cares about being himself and encouraging Choji to aim for the same.

Naruto later stops by the hospital to see Sasuke. Bothered that so many people have taken a keen interest in his rival, Sasuke insists the two of them settle things in a fight, and Naruto readily agrees.
