Sarada Uchiha (chapter)

Shino Aburame tells his students that graduation into genin ranks is only a week away, and the classroom buzzes with reactions. Walking home afterward, Sarada Uchiha stews with envy at how her peers are being coached by their dads for the exam: Chocho shares a meal with Choji, Inojin takes drawing lessons from Sai, and even the ever-busy Seventh Hokage, Naruto, squeezes in a sprawling game of hide-and-seek with Boruto, while Shikadai gets a talking-to from Shikamaru. The sight stings all the more because Sarada cannot recall ever laying eyes on her own father, Sasuke.

Home again, Sarada studies a photo of her parents and asks Sakura whether her father wore glasses like she does. When her mother dodges the question, Sarada bluntly asks whether the marriage was even real, and Sakura loses her temper so hard that she wrecks the entire house. Realizing her daughter spoke from grief rather than spite, Sakura calms down, apologizes, then panics over the destruction, wailing about a loan she took out before fainting.

After handing her mother off to Shizune, Sarada goes back to the rubble for keepsakes and finds that the photo she treasured is a forgery. A larger picture shows Sasuke standing with his old team Taka, including Karin, a bespectacled young woman who resembles Sarada, which deepens her fear about who her real parents are. All the while Sasuke is shown drawing near to Konoha. The chapter launches the Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring arc and appears in volume 73.
