When Sakura wonders aloud who has appeared before them, Minato names himself and tells her to brace for the blast. The ocean surges at their backs, and he explains to the baffled Allied Shinobi Forces that he flung the Ten-Tails' Tailed Beast Ball out to sea. Akamaru's uneasy growling tips everyone off, and the fighters soon realise this newcomer is a reincarnated shinobi. Minato assures them he stands on their side and, half in jest, asks Sakura whether she is Naruto's girlfriend. Naruto's cheeky answer earns him a smack and a demand to focus, a flash of temper that brings Kushina to Minato's mind.

Sensing chakra in Tailed Beast Mode, Naruto announces that more allies are near, and the other three Hokage arrive to the shinobi's astonishment. Tobirama and Hiruzen commend Minato's speed, while Madara can barely wait, calling out to Hashirama, who cheerfully promises to deal with him once the Ten-Tails is handled. Cloaking himself in a chakra mantle like his son's, Minato joins the others as the four perform the Four Red Yang Formation to bind the beast, Hashirama layering on an extra seal that pins its limbs and tails. Sasuke and Jugo then reach the field, and the Konoha 11 gather around the two former teammates.

Sasuke declares he intends to become Hokage, brushing off the others' insistence that a deserter guilty of such crimes could never hold the title, and vows to reshape the village on his own terms. A fully healed Naruto counters that the seat is his. Hashirama scolds both to concentrate, and when Sakura follows them onto the field, refusing to be dismissed as weak and citing her own training under a Sannin, Naruto observes that Team 7 has been reborn. An early printing coloured Minato's eyes without the usual reincarnation tint, an error fixed in the collected edition.
