Summary

As Obito's cry rings across the field, Madara recalls once telling him that he would eventually owe a debt to the legendary Uchiha who spared his life. Reading Madara's designs, Hashirama directs Naruto and Sasuke to handle Obito since they stand nearest to him, while he and Tobirama fashion wood and shadow clones as insurance against Madara should stopping Obito come too late. Obito, his hair thinning and greying from the strain of the Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, drifts into memories of his days on Team Minato.

Riding atop Aoda, Sasuke glides across the Ten-Tails to approach Obito and fires a black arrow, only for the chakra receivers protruding from the beast to strike back. Minato, having produced a shadow clone of his own, teleports to the reminiscing Obito and cuts him down, then realizes with a jolt that Obito was the one who engineered the catastrophe that leveled Konohagakure years earlier.
