Key Events

Naruto bolts instead, and the pair give chase, eventually enlisting Team 10 to help corner him. By the time they catch the boy the scuffle has ruined the book, and a closer look reveals it was never the one they wanted. Later, Naruto slips the battered volume, now stuffed into an envelope to hide its state, into Kakashi's hands and runs off before it can be opened. Kakashi discovers his own Icha Icha databook stained and half burned, to his irritation, while back at the Hokage's Office Izumo and Kotetsu turn up the genuine article buried in a stack of books.
