Words not Cast Aside

In a remembered moment, the Fourth Raikage dismisses Minato's talk and charges. Minato flashes in to strike B, only to find B's own blade leveled at him, and Minato admits he has grown fond of the younger brother. Back in the present, Naruto lunges at the Raikage but comes up empty as A and B exchange blows. B attempts his Lightning Release: Lariat against his brother, who scoffs that B's version cannot match his own.

When the Raikage calls on Tsunade for help, she instead plants herself before Naruto and B. Recalling Naruto's vow that he would not fall until he became Hokage, she argues that his death would leave the Nine-Tails to a successor who could never control it as well. The Raikage demands to know what proof they have that Naruto will succeed.

B once more brings his Lariat to bear. The brothers think back to the passing of the Third Raikage, when A told B to set the technique aside, pour himself into perfecting his Tailed Beast Ball, and never leave Kumogakure. As the two collide again, B's Lariat proves the stronger, unsettling his brother. B tells him that neither his nor Naruto's power springs from being jinchūriki, and that the words A spoke long ago were what gave him the strength to finally overtake him.

A flashback shows Minato taking a liking to Killer B. In the present, Naruto's strike misses as A and B duel with the Lightning Release: Lariat. Tsunade shields Naruto and B, insisting on Naruto's importance as the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki. B's Lariat overpowers A's, and B credits his brother's past encouragement rather than his tailed beast for his strength.
