A Zoan fruit that grants a human or half-human form at will, plus human intelligence and speech to whatever eats it. Consumed by the reindeer Tony Tony Chopper, it turned him into a Human Reindeer and underpins his many combat transformations.
This Zoan-type fruit allows its bearer to switch between a fully human body, a hybrid shape, and their original form at will. Its most famous eater is Tony Tony Chopper, a reindeer who became a Human Reindeer after biting into it while starving. The fruit looks like a red-capped, white-stalked mushroom with curling S-shaped swirls, closely resembling the iconic Amanita muscaria. Its name derives from hito, the Japanese word for person or human.
When an animal or object eats this fruit, it gains human-level intellect and the power to speak human language, and an animal user keeps the ability to talk with other beasts as well. Such users can absorb knowledge and handle tools thanks to a newly bipedal body, and unlike most Zoan they retain their sharpened mind even while untransformed. The full human form makes the user large and strong in close combat. Chopper proved that a Zoan's hybrid stage can be reshaped through training or special drugs, combining boosted intellect with an original body's traits. He never looks perfectly human, though, keeping fur at the neck and his blue reindeer nose, and is often mistaken for a gorilla or yeti. A strong full-body bind can lock the user out of transforming. Eaten by an actual human, the fruit does nothing except remove the ability to swim, which Oda joked might just make someone more human.
Chopper is the sole user and built an entire fighting system around the fruit. His base trio is Walk Point, his reindeer shape for speed and tracking; Brain Point, the small-bodied, large-headed hybrid he uses for thinking and dodging, the only form shown on his wanted poster; and Heavy Point, his tall, muscular human form. He expands these with the Rumble Ball, a drug he invented that unlocks extra forms for three minutes by distorting his transformation wavelengths, making him the first known user to artificially augment a Devil Fruit. These include defensive Guard Point, antler-heavy Horn Point, the high-leaping Jumping Point, the muscle-bound Arm Point behind his Kokutei Roseo hoof-print strikes, the post-timeskip martial Kung Fu Point, and the towering, berserk Monster Point, which once required three Rumble Balls and left him a danger to friend and foe. After two years of training he can shift freely between every form except Monster Point, which still needs a single Rumble Ball and drains him for hours afterward; with Caesar Clown's help he later stretched its duration at the cost of regressing into the elderly-infant Babyjiji state.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
The Hito Hito no Mi is a Zoan type Devil Fruit that lets its eater switch between a fully human body, a hybrid form, and their original form at will, along with human intelligence and speech. It resembles a red capped, white stalked mushroom and was eaten by the reindeer Tony Tony Chopper, turning him into a Human Reindeer.
If an ordinary human eats the Hito Hito no Mi, the fruit's shape shifting power has no real effect since a human is already human. The only consequence is the standard Devil Fruit drawback of losing the ability to swim.
The name Hito Hito no Mi comes from hito, the Japanese word for person or human, reflecting the fruit's power to grant a human form, intellect, and speech to whatever eats it.
Tony Tony Chopper, a reindeer, is the sole known user of the Hito Hito no Mi. He ate it while starving and became a Human Reindeer, gaining human intellect, speech, and the ability to shift between forms.
Chopper's base forms are Walk Point, a full reindeer for speed and tracking, Brain Point, a small hybrid for thinking and dodging, and Heavy Point, a tall, muscular human form. Using his invented Rumble Ball drug he can also unlock extra forms such as Guard Point, Horn Point, Arm Point, and the towering, berserk Monster Point.
