Pika Pika no Mi

A Logia-class fruit, this power lets the consumer generate, command, and transform into light, turning them into a so-called Light Human. With it the user moves at light speed and ferries themselves around by bouncing off reflective surfaces. Its eater is Borsalino, the Marine admiral better known by the alias Kizaru. The Japanese name imitates the glimmer of shining light, and English releases call it the Glint-Glint Fruit.

Borsalino first showed the ability while perched atop a launched cannonball, later naming the fruit and explaining its nature during the Sabaody clash.

As a Logia user, Borsalino can let attacks pass straight through his luminous body, while also firing laser beams from his hands, fingers, feet, or eyes that detonate with enormous force. He blinds foes with sudden flashes, builds solid constructs of hardened light, and scatters into glowing particles for travel, regeneration, or even splitting into combat-ready duplicates of himself. His signature style channels the fruit into kicks delivered at light speed. So light is his body that he can balance on a moving cannonball or hang briefly in midair, yet he can still pour massive momentum into a strike at the instant of contact. Any light-based technology, such as laser defenses, is useless against him since he simply bypasses it.

The power has limits. His lasers can only fly in straight lines, and a strong enough defense can disperse them, a feat Sanji managed by kicking one apart at close range to Borsalino's visible shock. Going fully into light speed also takes a brief moment, which let Silvers Rayleigh interrupt his motion with a Haki-charged blade. The standard Devil Fruit weaknesses remain. His named moves, all drawn from Japan's Three Sacred Treasures, include the reflective travel of Yata no Kagami, the blinding Amaterasu, the light blade Ama no Murakumo, and the particle barrage Yasakani no Magatama.

Borsalino is the canonical eater, fast enough that Luffy's Gear 2 looked sluggish to him and capable of slashing even a Gear 5 Luffy with his light sword. His laser output was studied and replicated by Dr. Vegapunk, who built it into the Pacifista modeled on Bartholomew Kuma and later the Seraphim units, as well as his lab's Frontier Dome defense. The same beam technology was adopted independently by Franky, who fitted it into his cyborg frame, and by Queen, who mounted laser emitters across his body to fight alongside his brachiosaurus form.
