Overview

Summary

Battered by a storm, the crew stumbles upon Foxy and his two companions adrift in a tiny boat and hauls them aboard the Going Merry. The next day they reach Foxy's vessel, the Sexy Foxy, where Foxy's tearful reunion sours: in his absence the Fanged Toad Pirates have hijacked his crew. To win them back, Foxy challenges the new captain to a Davy Back Fight, opening with a captain-versus-captain bout.

Foxy's slowing beam is turned against him by the rival crew's blades, and the fight devolves into a gang-up, complete with a hostage taken to neutralize Hamburg. Luffy steps in to honor the spirit of the duel, donning the absurd afro Foxy grants him, and the Straw Hats rout the Fanged Toads. True to form, Foxy repays the favor with treachery, dropping his rescuers through a trapdoor into his trap-laden ship. The crew works free, endures another failed ambush involving a crab submarine, and parts ways with the schemers, the whole episode leading directly into their fateful brush with Aokiji.

Aftermath

The skirmish with Foxy resolves as a comedic wash, with the trickster crew sent packing once more. Its real significance lies in what it sets up: the encounter that follows introduces the crew to Aokiji, one of the Marines' admirals, marking a sharp tonal shift from filler antics back toward the dangers of the wider world.
